ABSTRACT- Sound Operated Automated Display System is
necessary thing in any institution or public utility places like bus stations,
railway stations, schools, shopping centres, etc. But posting various notices
day to day is a difficult process. A separate person is required to do this
task. In this paper development of wireless notice board using ARM controller
raspberry pi is presented. Display is obtained on LCD monitor display. A
internet is used for data transfer. At any time user can add the text and image
according to our requirement. At transmitter authorized android phone is used
for sending notices. At receiving end Wi-Fi router is connected to raspberry pi
which is connected to display. When an authenticated user sends a notice from
the system, it is received by receiver and displayed on display. Wireless is a
popular technology that allows an electronic device to transfer data wirelessly
over a computer network, including high speed wireless connections. This is the
model for displaying notices on digital notice board by sending messages; it is
a wireless transmission system which has very less errors and maintenance. A
LCD monitor display is attached to raspberry pi for display. Raspberry system’s
coding will be done using python language. Many users can access to update
notices on the digital notice board by providing them password.

Earlierpeople use to display notice using paper work and
this leads wastage of paper, ink and time.Now a day, people are becoming
accustomed to easy access to information. Whether it’s through the internet or
television, people want themselves to be updated with the latest events
happening around the world. In today’s world people prefer wireless connection
because they can interact with people easily and it require less time. Mobile Phones and the
related technologies are becoming more ubiquitous. Various technological areas
in the field of Tele-communication as well as Embedded Systems have come very near
to the common people. The people having cell phones are increasing day by day.
A day will come, somewhere in the future, when the mobiles are referred to in
the same class of Food, clothing and shelter. Automation is the most frequently
spelled term in the field of electronics. The hunger for automation brought
many revolutions in the existing technologies. Raspberry pi plays most
important role in the project.


The Raspberry Pi is a
credit-card-sized single-board computer invented by the Raspberry Pi Foundation
in the UK. The Raspberry Pi 2 model B has a Broadcom BCM2836 system on a chip
(SoC), which includes 900 MHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 (ARMv7 instruction set),
Broadcom Video Core IV @250MHz GPU, and with 1GB RAM. It does not include a
built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, but uses an SD card for long-term
storage and booting purpose.     


Android is a software stack
for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key
applications. Android boasts a healthy array of connectivity options, including
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless data over a cellular connection (for example,
GPRS, EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution), and 3G and 4G). Android
provides access to a wide range of useful libraries and tools that can be used
to build rich applications. In addition, Android contains a full set of tools
that have been built from the ground up alongside the platform providing
developers with high productivity and deep insight into their applications.


The main controlling device
of the whole system is a Raspberry pi processor. The message sent through
predefined application from user. Wi-Fi modem feds this information to
Raspberry Pi processor which process it and displays it on the LCD display. To
perform this intelligent task, Raspberry pi processor is loaded with an
intelligent program written using Linux. Whenever user say something or write something
and send this message then message will displayed on LCD display.




It is a tedious
process to put up notices on the notice board. This leads to wastage of a lot
of resources like paper, printer ink, man power and also loss of time. In this
paper we have proposed such a system which enables people to wirelessly
transmit notices on notice board using Wi-Fi. Here only the authenticated
person can handle the notice board. This system requires less time due to fast
data transmission through Wi-Fi, less development cost and helps in saving the

Survey on
Wireless Notice Board The GSM based Digital Notice Board was very difficult to
design. It was costly as compare to WIFI based notice board. In GSM digital
notice board a SIM card was recommended to transmit the data (Notice), hence
that each notice was chargeable to send. Also one more thing is, to transmit
the video was almost near to impossible so we are here with our concept with
very famous/latest technology that is WIFI.


                        III. MOTIVATION


This project can be used in
offices, college, school, industry for displaying message.It will work on
internet so message can be send from long distance. It reduces the work load
and human interference Speech recognition technology is one from the fast
growing engineering technologies. It has a number of applications in different
areas and provides potential benefits. Nearly 20% people of the world are
suffering from various disabilities; many of them are blind or unable to use
their hands effectively.


The speech recognition
systems in those particular cases provide a significant help to them, so that
they can share information with people. This project is designed and developed
keeping that factor into mind, and a little effort is made to achieve this aim.
Our project is capable to recognize the speech and convert the input audio into
text and user can also edit the message.





The main objective of this project
is to develop a wireless notice board that display message sent from the user
and to design a simple, easy to install user friendly system which can receive
and display notice in a particular manner with respect to date and time which
will help the user to easily keep the track of notice board every day and each
time he uses the system.The main goal is to provide Exciting new innovative way to send
information to your Staff visitors and Students. The
project aims at designing a LCD Monitor based message display controlled from
an Android mobile phone. The proposed system makes use of wireless technology
to communicate from Android phone to LCD display board. The system has a
provision for giving message through text.


V. Scope of the Project


1. This technology may be further modified and more
updated as per individual need and interest.

2. It can be used at Highways for Advertising  purpose.

3. A moving display with variable speed can also be
used in place of static Display.

4. It may be modified for an announcing purpose by
adding speaker to it. 

5. It also
helps the user to open different system software such as opening Ms-paint, notepad
and calculator.



VI. proposed work


recognition is a technology that able a computer to capture the words spoken by
a human with a help of microphone. These words are later on recognized by
speech recognizer, and in the end, system outputs the recognized words.


Over the past 20 years several developers and
designers has improved the way of converting speech to text in real time. It is
their hard work that we are able to convert speech to text. The developments
are done by improving technologies, computer systems and communication ways.
These parallel developments led the way to the applications we use today for
converting speech into text. Currently, two major options are available for
providing real-time speech-to-text services: 1. Computer assisted note taking
(CAN). 2. Communication access (or computer aided) real-time translation.
Currently company provide speech to text conversion technology.


This system come up with an out of the box idea
to tackle all the above problem related to the flexibility, rigidity,
simplicity, multitasking, reliability and cost efficient system.  An ideal
situation in the process of speech recognition is that, a speech recognition engine
recognizes all words uttered by a human but, practically the performance of a
speech recognition engine depends on number of factors. Vocabularies, multiple
users and noisy environment are the major factors that are counted in as the
depending factors for a speech recognition engine. The concept of speech
recognition started somewhere in 1940s, practically the first speech
recognition program was appeared in 1952 at the bell labs, that was about
recognition of a digit in a noise free environment. 1940s and 1950s consider as
the foundational period of the speech recognition technology, in this period
work was done on the foundational paradigms of the speech recognition that is
automation and information theoretic models . In the 1960’s we were able to recognize
small vocabularies (order of 10-100 words) of isolated words, based on simple
acoustic-phonetic properties of speech sounds. The key technologies that were
developed during this decade were, filter banks and time normalization methods.
In 1970s the medium vocabularies (order of 100-1000 words) using simple
template-based, pattern recognition methods were recognized. In 1980s large
vocabularies (1000-unlimited) were used and speech recognition problems based
on statistical, with a large range of networks for handling language structures
were addressed. The key invention of this era were hidden markov model (HMM)
and the stochastic language model, which together continuous speech recognition
enabled powerful new methods for handling problem efficiently and with high
performance. In 1990s the key technologies developed during this period were
the methods for stochastic language understanding, statistical learning of
acoustic and language models, and the methods for implementation of large
vocabulary speech understanding systems. After the five decades of research,
the speech recognition technology has finally entered marketplace, benefiting
the users in variety of ways. The challenge of designing a machine that truly
functions like an intelligent human is still a major one going forward.

Speech recognition is basically the science of
talking with the computer, and having it correctly recognized. To elaborate it
we have to understand the following terms.


1. Utterances: When user says some things, then
this is an utterance in other words speaking a word or a combination of words
that means something to the computer is called an utterance. Utterances are
then sent to speech engine to be processed.

2. Pronunciation: 
A speech recognition engine uses a process word is its pronunciation that
represents what the speech engine thinks a word should sounds like. Words can
have the multiple pronunciations associated with them.

3. Grammar: 
Grammar uses particular set of rules in order to define the words and
phrases that are going to be recognized by speech engine, more concisely
grammar define the domain with which the speech engine works. Grammar can be
simple as list of words or flexible enough to support the various degrees of

4.Accuracy: The performance of the speech
recognition system is measurable; the ability of recognizer can be measured by
calculating its accuracy. It is useful to identify an utterance.

5. Vocabularies: 
Vocabularies are the list of words that can be recognized by the speech
recognition engine. Generally the smaller vocabularies are easier to identify
by a speech recognition engine, while a large listing of words are difficult
task to be identified by engine.

6. Training: Training can be used by the users
who have difficulty of speaking or pronouncing certain words, speech
recognition systems with training should be able to adapt.

consists of two parts. One is the android app and another is a server url.

the app. Then he has to assign the server url in the app (if not already

11.    If displaying of all
notices are over, then the first notice is displayed and the cycle is repeated.

12.    Only the notices in the
from-to date range are kept in the database and the old notices which are not
in the date range are deleted.

raspberry-pi being a small yet powerful device can work efficiently in digital
notice board connected with softwares. Hence Webserver can provide user with
real time actual data which can be used application.Wireless operations allows
services, such as long range communications, that are impossible or impractical
to implement with the use of wires. It provides fast transfer of information
and It is cheaper to install and maintain. This paper provides an efficient way
of displaying messages on Notice Board using IoT. It also provides user
authentication in order to avoid any misuse of the system.
