Globalization has reduced the world to the size of a fist. It welcomed new people, cultures, and languages. People are brought closer than ever and this opened a new horizon to excel in. Multilingualism is one such domain. Multilingualism is people or community of people who speak more than one language.Nowadays, when we wanted to impress everyone being multilingual is a huge asset. Cosmopolitan life goes hand in hand with languages and cultures. As it involves interaction with people of different backgrounds and communities. Communicating with people in their cognitive language gives them a feeling of trust. Though being a fluent speaker of many languages is hard to attain, but it has its own set of advantages. Pros and cons of multilingualism have created a debate. Some people believe that the cognitive languages divide society rather than unification of society by a single language. Many believe that language learners need to push the boundaries and explore so that they can have the better understanding of different cultures. A multilingual person knows better about the foreign culture and people, therefore, he/she is accepted more readily as compared to the monolingual new to their culture. Also, Nelson Mandela once said ?If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.?Therefore when both people have the same set of required technical skills multilingual person gets the preference. Also, a cosmopolitan person meets a lot of people, therefore, it is beneficial to be multilingual. So, that he/she can communicate to more people and travel to other countries easily. No doubt, being multilingual makes it easy for a cosmopolitan person. It is said that ? The limit of the language is the limit of the world.? In my opinion, multilingualism is a new human evolution and should be appreciated in the cosmopolitan world. It will be a big revolution in the cosmopolitan world and will have help person to achieve new heights.
