Introduction Kingdom Plantae are organism that are multicellular eukaryotes, which can carry out photosynthesis. They contains about 300,000 different species. Kingdom Plantae is very important in many aspects such as the source of food for all other living creatures, produce oxygen at the same time consume carbon dioxide and others. One aspect that we usually neglected is the role of kingdom Plantae in traditional medicine and healthcare.Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an important example of how plant is applied in a holistic approach in present day health care. TCM has a history of more than 3000 years and the book The Divine Farmer’s Classic of Herbalism (Shennong Ben Cao Jing) is the oldest known herbal text in the world. Presence of this book show that how ancient people in China start to know, develop and emphasise on plant for treatment. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system which is considered the oldest medical system in the world. It affects almost all medical systems whereby Ayurvedic doctors have prophetic insight into the important medical properties of plants and can be said to be the originator of modern pharmacology. In addition, the system emphasizes the importance of diet and spirituality. We can even see the shadow of Ayurvedic in the medical treatment of Chinese medicine in China and also Hippocrates (The father of modern medicine).Before the introduction of chemical medicines, human relied on plants for its healing properties. Even in our 21st century, it was told that about 80% of the 5.2 billion people of the world live in the less developed countries and the World Health Organization estimates that about 80% of these people rely on traditional medicine for their healthcare and treatment. That’s why kingdom Plantae, especially the medicinal plants are known as the “backbone” of traditional medicine. In this study, we are going to analysed the importance of kingdom Plantae in both traditional medical and healthcare aspects.BOKingdom Plantae are organism that are multicellular
