The israeli-palestinian conflict was and still is a battle over land. It goes all the way back to the 1900 when the ottoman empire controlled palestine for many centuries were muslims, christian and jews lived peacefully, but after world war 1 the ottoman empire collapsed leaving the british to come and take over. In 1917 the british declaration that was viewed by both jew and arabs it was promising a national home for jews who lived in palestine. The british later limited the immigration of jews into palestine, in response to that jews came together to fight both the arabs and british, then came the holocaust leading many jews to flee to palestine that’s when the violences between arabs and jews grew so the united nations stepped in and approved a plan to divide palestine into two separate states, one for jews and one for arabs the city of jerusalem was to become an international the whole plan was meant to give jews a state and to establish palestine’s independents and end the violence that the british could not control. The jews accepted the plan but the palestinians did not for an odd reason and in may of 1948 the zionist group declared israel an independent state, shortly after that many neighboring arab countries declared war on israel which in my opinion was not a good idea because israel won the war and started to push past the borders the united nations gave them, they took the western half of jerusalem and much of the land that belonged to palestine. In the end of the war israel controlled all the territories except for gaza which was controlled by egypt and the west  bank which was controlled by jordan, while all that was happening israel was throwing palestinians out of their homes creating a large amount of refugees in the neighboring arab countries which is really heartbreaking for the palestinians that have been living in there homes for many generations but then have to leave everything that they build for their children.n 1967 israel and its neighboring nations had another war, it was known as the 6 days when it finished israel took Golan heights from Syria, the West Bank from Jordan and Sinai and Gaza from Egypt, israel was then possessing palestinian regions including all of jerusalem. In my opinion the united nations and the british should once again step in and take over israel and palestine even though israel has an established government because israel has been breaking all the international laws by building illegal settlements, saying that jerusalem is the capital city of israel and using force on palestinian children. Israel started to build illegal settlements during the six day war and continues till this day. The settlements are built on land that belongs to palestine and the international community, they are approved by the Israeli government, for example in the west bank there’s an israeli settlement that runs deep in the west bank and if the united nations decided to make palestine its own state it would not be possible because those settlements are closer to jordan rather than israel. Reantly israeli authorities approved a plan to make more than 1000 newsettlements in the west bank, the palestinian foreign minister believed that the reason to why they were building them was because donald trump recognize jerusalem as its capital. In the west bank alone out of the 3 million people leaving there, twenty percent of them are jewish israeli citizens living there as settlers. When wealthy israelis would buy a palestinian property they then would move in a jewish family, usually during the night and get escorted by soldiers into their new homes. The families are then protected by 24/hr private security that is provided by the israeli government. Some settlers live close to the Green Line as a result of more reasonable housing prices or personal satisfaction because the government invest more public money into the settlements communities then there mainlands ones.I believe that I only the  reason why the government if doing all these things for the settlers are because it’s all part of there plan to over power and overpopulate there palestinian neighbors so they could never have their own state. Israel pulled back settlements in Sinai as a major aspect of the 1979 peace deal Egypt. In 1989, the withdrawal was finished, constituting a full Israeli withdrawal from Sinai. In 2005, Israel singularly pulled back from settlements in Gaza leading new settlements to be build in the west bank. Israeli settlements damage the Fourth Geneva Convention, which expresses that an involving power can’t move its populace into the territory it occupies. Israel began saying that jerusalem was there capital city since 1948, during the Arab– Israeli War, west Jerusalem was among the zones caught and later controlled by Israel while East Jerusalem, including the Old City, was caught and later seized by Jordan. Israel caught East Jerusalem from Jordan in the 1967 Six-Day War and consequently attached it into Jerusalem, together with there extra territory. One of Israel’s Basic Laws, the 1980 Jerusalem Law, refers Jerusalem as the nation’s unified capital. Most people expect a peace deal that gives the western half of jerusalem to israel and the eastern half to palestine. All branches of the Israeli government are situated in Jerusalem, including the Knesset (Israel’s parliament), the homes of the Prime Minister and President, and the Supreme Court. While the universal group dismissed the extension as illegal and regards East Jerusalem as Palestinian territory occupied by Israel. Israel has a more grounded claim to rule over West Jerusalem.
