This essay will be analyzing what the genre of Rock is and the impact it has had in the music industry. During this essay, I will be talking about the development and influences. I will also be looking at some of the most famous performers during Rocks time. Also the general structure, chord sequencing and general arrangement to see how similar all the records was in the early 60’s/ late 70s. Ultimately, I will understand the performance of Rock. Rock got its name around the early 70s although Rock was heard in the time of Rock ‘N’ Roll. This genre developed and got its name in the late 50’s/ early 60’s in the USA. The African- American started the most famous and well listened to genre today. With the African Americans doing different music, styles suggest that they opened many genres of Music such as Blues, Gospel, Jazz and many more. The elements of Rock ‘N’ Roll can be heard in blues records from the 1920’s and in Country music from 1930’s meaning that the concepts, chord sequences and general structure of blues were in some ways what made Rock ‘N’ Roll which in time and technology advancing the genre Rock was born. These two genres are similar but very different all at once. Rock ‘N’ Roll has a swing to it but Rock is very different. In Rock, there is more of guitar, solo’s, bass and drums. The vocals are more aggressive and loud compared to Rock ‘N’ Roll which is soft and smooth.   The main artists of this time were Chuck Berry, the creator of Rock. However, he was only one of many pioneers that developed the style of Rock ‘N’ Roll. Berry developed the major elements of this genre and made them fit into a rhythm and blues. Berry influenced many artists such as – Muddy Waters, Buddy Holly, the Beatles and many more. A Rock artist Jimi Hendrix biggest influences were Muddy Waters meaning if Chuck Berry hadn’t inspired Muddy Waters, Hendrix may not even of existed or be the same performer as he is now. Jimi Hendrix was born on November 27th, 1942  and died on September 18, 1970, in London from drug-related complications. During his short career in music of 4 years in the music industry, he did many amazing things. One of the things he is recognized as being a pioneer of the endless possibilities you can do on electric guitar in the 20th century. Many musicians including myself that think Hendrix is very inspiring but also that he can’t read or write music but made it in the music industry. This American, rock guitarist became known in the 1960s.Hendrix’s had a troubling childhood as the majority of the time lived with relatives or acquaintances because his mother, Lucille, was only 17 years old when she gave birth the Hendrix.  He had a difficult childhood, sometimes living in the care of relatives or acquaintances. The relationship between his father, Al and Lucille weren’t working and the went separate ways after having another two sons, Leon and Joseph. After Hendrix mother left he only saw her occasionally before she died in 1958. In 1961, Hendrix decided to join the United States Army the age 19. During his training as a paratrooper, Hendrix was still able to form a band called King Kasuals. Hendrix served in the army for a year until when he was honorably discharged after an injury during a parachute jump. Hendrix goes a lot of support from his father, he encouraged him to learn guitar. when Hendrix turned 16, his father bought him his first acoustic guitar, and the next year his first electric guitar, a right-handed Supro Ozark that he had to flip upside down to play because he was left-handed. After this took place he started to perform with his band, Rocking Kings.  Hendrix knows what he loved music and wanted to put every moment into it that he chose to drop out of school in 1959 and decided to work part-time jobs so he can keep a lot of his efforts on music. In many ways, music became a mentally safe place for Hendrix. He was a fan of blues and rock and roll so that’s the main styles he based himself on. One of many experiences, Hendrix had was in mid-1966, Hendrix met Chas Chandler which was a bass player of British rock group the Animals. They came to an agreement and signed so that Chandler can become his manager. Not long after, Chandler convinced Hendrix to go to London, he met and joined together an bassist, Noel Redding, and drummer Mitch Mitchell. They performed in England together which built up a following which the country rock, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who and Eric Clapton who all became inspirational artists today and loved Hendrix’s talent. In conclusion, Hendrix is the reason why a lot of famous artists today are performing. Rock is a huge genre and there are new bands and artists today, 2018, is added. Many people such as myself would say that the best years of music was 60s/70s because of the talent that was born in those years. Nowadays there aren’t many musicians how can get as much respects and a big following as much as Hendrix, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and many more. Rock ‘N’ Roll made Rock, in many ways they are the same thing as there are elements of Rock in that genre. If Chuck Berry didn’t earn fame or Carl Perkins there would be Jimi Hendrix or The Beatles.
