War of Resistance against Japan (1937-1945)

All through the recorded background of China, the country has encountered real genuine destruction and loss of life from war. Both customary national and military misfortunes, “more than 20 million killed from 1937 to 1945” (Coble, P. M. 394). Japanese military powers used differing techniques for Guerrilla warfare to take control. Military war procedures for example shelling, attacks and ambushes were used to murder and progress all through China. The leader of China, Chiang Kai-Shek led the “Nationalist Kuomintang Party” to war with the Japanese Empire. The wars among Japan and China are formally called “Sino Japanese Wars” however numerous Chinese individuals infer to it as “War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression” (Mr. Xi Jinping 1). The effects of the war lead China through ghastly turmoil and passing, however, through impressive chances, China developed enormously from post-war, as well midst of War. China progressed on a general scale, Chiang’s inability to address the contentions of the Japanese Empire prompted articulated shortcomings and would be a reason for the CCP (China’s Communist Party) Success in the Civil war of 1945-1949, which propelled the Republic of China. During the war, associations were made that created sustainability from foreign power relations amongst Britain and the United States. In conclusion, alienated governing of post-war sufferings from war victims having a veil of silence about the war in China, which has given a perspective of what the administration is desensitizing and dismissing the care of war veterans.

Kuomintang was corrupt and lost their trust of the citizens when nearly 50 percent of the living population were under brutal occupation regime, Chiang Kai-shek kept continued propping the values of adaptability his ignorance brought the downfall of massive casualties. “Up to 1944 Chiang Kai-Shek never creased his clandestine attempts to make peace with Japan” Coble, P. M. 396). He not even once attempted to perceive or consent to peace rather; he dismissed and commenced a relentless war with Japan; the conclusion of War of Resistance only brought conflicts between the Kuomintang and the Communists, the newly established communist’s regime struck victory in 1949. It launched the revolution and leadership of the CCP (China Communist Party) establishing sovereignty and independence, developing and expanding the country as a whole economically, and politically. “After the Communist party grew the Republic of China, Kuomintang was made a passive resistance to Japan to the opposition of the Communist party” (Morris L. Bian 15). This impact changed China forever it was the creation of “People’s Republic of China.”

China needed much aid towards the Japanese Empire, so who helped? The growing relationship between Britain and China was often tossed between the obstacles through which the notion of Britain’s own personal interests. “Britain had a limited ability to aid China” (J. K. J. Perry 408). Due to size but also the weapons and ability of technological warfare of the Japanese Empire. China’s call for help and desperate need of aid finally reached Britain’s Press. “Japan found out and threatened their economic, cultural, imperial involvements, which made Britain’s interests with China transitioned to only driven by selfish acts” (J. K. J. Perry 409). While the war was ongoing British, missionaries and volunteers were trying to help in some way to create funds to maintain refugee camps in China. An individual was quoted as saying;

“This China business fills me with utter horror. Is the whole civilised world impotent to restrain those devils in Japan? I realise they have all the cards—ships, planes, etc., and could overwhelm Hong Kong tomorrow. And yet I feel to sit by and to quietly watch those people massacred by the thousand is a disgrace to the manhood and womanhood of the civilised world. I feel desperately about it all but how to stop it is beyond me for it means war.” (J.K.J Perry 411).

Britain’s ever reaching aid once created by again was dimensioned by the present danger of the Japanese empire so there was restricted government assistance due to Japan having all the cards in their hand. “Britain needed cooperation from America in order to help, Henry Stimson (United States Secretary of War), The American secretary of state’s proposed joint declaration against Japan” (J. K. J. Perry 411). Because of this, there was tremendous assistance from the United States. “After the end of World War II in Europe May 1945, the allied war effort moved to the east. On August 6th and 9th, the United States dropped the world’s first atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On August 14, 1945, the Japanese surrendered in China” (Prof, Erik Schomann 54.) Because of the assistance of the United States and Britain, heavily being involved with China, the nation was able to successfully defeat Japan and restore Independence.

            Post-war care conditions for war victims have been virtually gone. The massacre of The Rape of Nanking in December 1937, is one of the most horrific tragedies that affected people on a global scale. “These were major atrocities that in other countries would be the subject of investigations, prosecutions, trails and reparations” (Lary, D., & MacKinnon, S. R. 3). However, until recently China has remained silent about the devastation of the event that took place. The anti-Japanese resistance has yet to be publicized, many civilians often left with no written documentation of the event that occurred. Survivors of war conflicts would generally abolish any conflicting memories. “There has been no ongoing legal process to deal with wartime issues” (Lary, D., & MacKinnon, S. R. 4). Political ignorance of the Chinese government has hidden away current post-war victims there has barely if not none media coverage of this current issue. It is not only an insult to the people who have fought for this nation but it is an insult most importantly to the people who died for it. The vast majority of China’s neglect to be aware of the war victims issues has left them thumb because it has to do with the scale and size of the country, lackluster of self-adherence is due to the numbers were overwhelming on an induvial level but scaled with the whole population it appeared tiny. Not only that the country has gone through “natural to man-made disasters throughout modern history that it’s almost common” (Lary, D., & MacKinnon, S. R. 7).  Therefore, people take it as a natural occurrence and the horrible events as an enormity to even think or talk about.

            Through the altercations of a horrific 8 years of war. There have been extensive clashing changes that have made the Republic of China a flourishing country. These effects have changed the lives of millions and it appears harsh, however, sovereignty was established throughout the nation. These points have made a worldwide impact both on the local and national level, which has changed China for forever. These topics are in some way influencing China the way it is today. The superpower that is China will be regularly affecting the nations on this planet. And they have no intention of stopping.
